Made in America by a Mama: Flynn Skye

Tell us a little bit about yourself and your background?

Hmmm my background is certainly not as a designer. I never went to school. I just got offered an incredible offer and that's how I learned. Learn as you go.

When did you found Flynn Skye and what inspired you to start your business?

My inspiration came from putting food on my kids plate. Sounds grim but it actually is a beautiful story. The brand was built out of my garage roughly four and a half years ago.

Why was it important to you to manufacture in the U.S. / Locally?

It was important for me to know the people that make the clothes. I have to say that keeping it local is not easy. Growth management is made extremely difficult in the U.S. which is why many leave.

Tell us about what your relationship with your manufacturer looks like.

I love them. They are like family to me. I try to show them love so they know that with out them my company doesn't exist. Oh and lots of hugs.

What is the best advice you have for other mothers and business owners?

Talk to your kids. I tell them when I am proud or when my day was hard. I bring them so they can see what a day is like. I can honestly say my kids are proud of me because they have witnessed every triumph as well as my defeats.

Tell us one thing your followers would be surprised to learn about you?

I have serious face blindness. It sucks. So hi again :)

Tell me about what Flynn Skye  has in store for us this summer? What are you most excited about?

I am excited about my swim collaboration with amuse Society. It really turned out rather lovely. I also just love the way the brand is evolving.
